Lusitano — New Portuguese & Mediterranean Restaurant at City Gate
If you’re a fan of Portuguese cuisine or is keen to try them out, this is for you! A new Portuguese and Mediterranean restaurant is in town, owned and operated by none other than the ex-head chef of Tuga Singapore, Tiago Martins!
As I perused the menu, I couldn't help but notice the wide range of traditional Portuguese dishes that were available, each with its own unique specialty. If you’re feeling apprehensive about trying out Portuguese food, you have nothing to worry at @lusitano.sg ! From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the warm and inviting ambiance of the place. Also, Chef Tiago was very friendly and approachable, and he is more than happy to explain the menu and recommend dishes to us!
Here’s what we tried:
🦪Mussels D.Rosa
A classic Portuguese dish that is a true testament to the country's coastal culinary traditions. The mussels were cooked in a savory sauce that was simply divine and we couldn't get enough of it! Request for some crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce!
🦐Garlic Prawns
A Portuguese specialty that was perfectly executed. The prawns were plump and juicy, and the garlic-infused home-made oil added a wonderful depth of flavor that was irresistible.
🐟Codfish Narcisa
A dish that is a true cornerstone of Portuguese cuisine. Very intriguing as Portuguese uses cod fish that are dried and salted rather than fresh cod! You got to try the unique texture and flavor of Portuguese Bacalhau!
🍖Pork and Clams Alentejana
A traditional Portuguese dish that is famous for its rich flavors and hearty portions. The pork was succulent and tender, and the clams added a delicious brininess that perfectly complemented the savory flavors of the meat. Goes well with drinks!
🍳Pastel de Nata
Also known as Portuguese egg tart. This was the perfect end to a fantastic meal, and we savored every bite of the crispy, flaky pastry and the creamy, custardy filling.
@lusitano.sg is indeed an absolute gem! The food is authentic, the ambiance is warm and inviting, and the service is top-notch. I can't wait to come back and try more of Chef Tiago's delicious dishes!
