Gyutan-Tan Singapore

Gyutan-Tan Singapore

@gyutantansg , Singapore’s first-ever gyutan (ox tongue) specialty restaurant makes its debut recently on Tras Street, presenting succulent gyutan in absolutely exquisite creations.

The restaurant’s affordable menu features a tantalising blend of tradition and modernity – from gyutan served in unique ways, to a range of mouth-watering pork and chicken dishes that are stars in their own right!

@gyutantansg offers impressive Lunch Sets that include fluffy mugimeshi (a mix of rice and barley), two kinds of Japanese pickles, salad paired with a lemon olive oil dressing, tororo (grated Japanese mountain yam) and a choice of oxtail or miso soup. For the best of both worlds, we went for the noteworthy and indulgent Sumiyaki Gyutan Combo Set ($25) that consists of thin and thick cuts of charcoal-grilled gyutan well-seasoned with simply salt and pepper to elevate the gyutan’s naturally-rich flavour.

Apart from the above, we tried the following:

🥩Cold Roasted Gyutan Carpaccio ($15, dinner only)

A gorgeous chilled appetiser starring thin slices of cold-roasted gyutan, arugula, crunchy pickled white radish, parmesan and finished with a drizzle of sweet balsamic glaze.

🥩Gyutan Demi-glace Stew Set ($24)

Using a classic French cooking technique, this comforting dish is made with luscious chunks of 4-hour braised gyutan, along with potato, carrot and asparagus all immersed in a velvety roux-based demi-glace.

🥓Pork Kakuni Set ($22)

Highlights the 4-hour braised pork belly covered in a flavoursome soy-based sauce, along with a perfectly-boiled egg and a generous amount of onions.

🥩Premium Gyutan Shabu-Shabu ($28, dinner only)

Cook the buttery-fleshed gyutan tableside in a hearty kombu dashi broth, along with an assortment of vegetables and mushrooms, as well as kuzukiri noodles and namafu – a wheat gluten with mochi-like mouthfeel.

Chef Yoshiyuki also has a flair for desserts. End the satisfying meal on a sweet note with their line-up of masterfully-prepared desserts such as the Japanese Tiramisu Parfait ($11.50), Matcha Afo-Guard ($10.50) and Home-made Egg Pudding ($4).
