The Hermitage Hotel — Jaw-Dropping Views of Mount Cook, New Zealand
In awe of the picturesque view from my room😍
Nestled in the heart of Aoraki Mount Cook National Park, the iconic Hermitage Hotel is more than just a place to rest—it’s an experience! With a history dating back to 1884, this grand hotel offers a perfect mix of old-world charm and modern amenities. After multiple rebuilds, including one following a fire in 1957, the Hermitage stands proud with a timeless elegance, making you feel like you’ve stepped into the shoes of legendary explorers like Sir Edmund Hillary (who trained here for Mt. Everest!).
While the hotel itself is great, it’s the jaw-dropping views of Mount Cook from our room that stole the show! Arriving at sunset, I was treated to a scene so magical it felt like nature’s own masterpiece. Mount Cook village is small and unassuming but it’s this peaceful, remote charm that makes the place so special.
If you can, book a room with a view over the mountains—you won’t regret it! It’s scoring a front-row seat to one of New Zealand’s most majestic landscapes!
