Odem
Nestled within the hip dining and lifestyle destination at New Bahru, Odem is setting a new benchmark for Korean dining in Singapore. As the city’s first restaurant and craft makkoli bar, the spotlight here is undoubtedly on makkoli, with an impressive selection of handcrafted makkoli sourced directly from South Korea.
For a start, we opted for a flight of five makkoli to explore the diverse and sophisticated flavors of this traditional brew.
While makkoli is the star, the food at Odem is exceptional as well. We had the soy-glazed brioche and gamtae seaweed butter - an irresistible, toasty delight that perfectly balances density and fluffiness. For a refreshing appetizer, try the Japanese oysters with kimchi granita, perilla oil, and dashi jelly - a tantalizing burst of flavors.
The mains shine with the barbecued kalbi, featuring succulent and tender beef short ribs with a smoky char! The abalone boribap is another standout, featuring tender abalone in a rich makkoli-abalone jus.
We finished the experience with a Black Garlic Tart with Berries, Smoked Jujube Chantilly - a sweet and smoky finale to our meal.
I believe Odem is where you can immerse yourself in the artistry of makkoli while enjoying extraordinary Korean cuisine.
