Allthings Hainanese — Handmade Hainanese Kueh
It’s getting harder to find Hainanese Kuehs nowadays. If you fancy these nostalgic Hainanese Kuehs, good news to you as @allthings.hainanese is here to serve you home-made Hainanese Kuehs made freshly without any preservatives using recipes passed-down from their grandmother.
I tried the following items from their menu:
𝐀𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐮 𝐊𝐮𝐞𝐡
𝐘𝐁 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐞𝐬
𝐇𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐆𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐭 which consists of:
𝟐 𝐘𝐢 𝐁𝐮𝐚
𝟓 𝐌𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐢
𝟏 𝐁𝐮𝐚 𝐀𝐫𝐭
𝟏𝟎𝟎𝐦𝐥 𝐊𝐚𝐲𝐚
Before I move on to their Hainanese Kuehs, let me rave about how good their 𝐊𝐚𝐲𝐚 spread is! Smooth, rich and creamy with great pandan aroma. I wouldn’t mind having this the old-school way for breakfast everyday!
Their 𝐀𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐮 𝐊𝐮𝐞𝐡 comes in 2 flavors - 𝙋𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙪𝙩 and 𝙈𝙪𝙣𝙜 𝘽𝙚𝙖𝙣. Their 𝐘𝐢 𝐁𝐮𝐚, 𝐌𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐢 and 𝐁𝐮𝐚 𝐀𝐫𝐭 were tender and chewy with a distinct ginger flavor. They consists of the same ingredients - glutinous rice flour either stuffed with or well-coated with grated coconut, peanut, sesame and ginger. The Yi Bua Mochi is a pretty good bite-sized snack.
This is my first time seeing and trying 𝐘𝐢 𝐁𝐮𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐞𝐬! It’s pretty interesting as they taste alike to Yi Bua but in a cookie form!
