Four Seasons Hotel Singapore has given the classic afternoon tea a little Italian holiday twist with its new “The Italian Job Afternoon Tea” - a weekend escape that feels less like a traditional tea set and more like a leisurely afternoon in Italy, blending refined savouries, contemporary desserts and Italian-inspired cocktails.

Forget the usual sandwiches and scones - this afternoon tea takes you through a journey of Italian flavours, starting with delicate savouries before moving into a beautifully curated dessert finale. Created in collaboration with Executive Pastry Chef Andrea Bonaffini from Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, alongside the culinary team at Four Seasons Singapore, the menu celebrates regional Italian influences with a modern touch.

The savoury selection was where the experience stood out for me. The Carabinero prawn tartella brought together sweetness from the prawn with refreshing notes of fennel, orange and olives, while the Maritozzo - inspired by the Roman sweet bun - was transformed into a savoury bite with veal loin, tonnata sauce and black truffle. The smoked potato foam with charcoaled octopus was another highlight, balancing rich flavours with a hint of brightness from capers and lemon.

A refreshing interlude came in the form of Limone - an Amalfi lemon and vanilla granita paired with mandarin foam and ricotta cheese. Light, citrusy and refreshing, it was the perfect pause before diving into the desserts.

The dessert tower was a celebration of Italian classics reimagined. The pistachio and orange raviolo offered a lovely contrast of nuttiness and citrus, while the Albicocca combined dark chocolate, hazelnut praline, apricot and bergamot for a deeper, more sophisticated finish. Of course, the Tiramisu was a familiar favourite - creamy mascarpone, espresso lady fingers and cocoa coming together in a nostalgic yet elegant way.

Pair it with one of their Italian-inspired cocktails like the Italian Sour or La Dolce Vita for a more celebratory afternoon.
